CHENNAI: The Chennai-based STC (Software Testing Company) Group has floated a new firm to carry out independent software testing.
Named STC Third Eye, the new company was inaugurated on Saturday by the Union Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran.
According to Thirumal Raj, Head (Testing Services), STC Third Eye would act as a third party testing agent to software solution providers.
Typically, STC Third Eye would test and validate the products developed by solution providers before being delivered to their clients. The new facility in Chennai would house around 150 people initially, he said.
By the end of 2005, he expected the head count in this center to go up to over 400.
Mr. Raj indicated that STC Third Eye would also set up testing centers in Bangalore and Mumbai.
Since the software testing market was growing, "we are planning to provide dedicated offshore test centers to clients,'' he said.
The company would operate in verticals like BFSI, healthcare, telecom and embedded system.
The STC Group had two outfits, which had a workforce of around 350 people, he added.
